- This is the only season to feature Mark Feuerstein (Jacob Anton Ness), Inbar Lavi (Sheba) and Augustus Prew (Whip) as series regulars.
- There are many references to Homer's The Odyssey in this season. While there could be themes similar in the previous seasons, this one has more outright references. Poseidon (the ultimate villian), Ithaca (NY- where Sara and Mike live), Phaecia (last location in Yemen), Ogygia (the prison in Yemen), and Cyclops, known as Polyphemus in Odyssey (The ISIL villian with one eye), and references to Greek heroes. The Odyssey is a Greek epic about a man trying to get home to his wife and son after war that he hasn't seen in years since his son was an infant due to all the barriers preventing him getting home.
